Giuseppina Grassini
Opera Singer
1773 to 1850
An
opera singer, Giuseppina Grassini is likely to have been a lover
to both of the greatest generals of the age.
She
was one of Napoleon Bonaparte's
mistresses and performed at La Scala. In 1814, she was regularly
seen around Paris with the Duke of
Wellington and, while that is no proof as to a relationship,
the great British commander did carry a portrait of her.
