Friederich Kleist

An
experienced commander who had fought in the Revolutionary
Wars, Friedrich Kleist was a brave and trusted soldier.
During
the War of German Liberation in
1813, Kleist was one of Prussia's leading lights on the field.
He
fought well at Bautzen and later
at Leipzig, where his corps was
engaged in intense fighting, and won victory at Kulm.
Originally
picked to lead the Prussian army during the
100 Days' Campaign, Kleist was eventually replaced by Field
Marshal Blucher.
