Tecumseh
            British
              General
              Shawnee Chief
              1768
              -1813

             A
Shawnee chief, Tecumseh sided with the British in an attempt to
stop settlers moving into traditional Indian lands.
            He
was brave, intelligent, a great speaker and got on well with the
              British general Sir Isaac Brock.

            He
helped Brock secure Detroit from General
William Hull, but relations with the Crown grew lukewarm under
              later commanders.
            He
was killed at the Battle of the Thames, when the British defence
              gave way.
